Il mio club preferito! Le mie etichette preferite! Il mio DJ preferito! Il mio MC preferito! Andiamo!
Chiamato in modo appropriato 81502, Loefah di Swamp 81 e Oneman di 502 hanno deciso di unire le forze per creare ciò che può essere descritto semplicemente come la festa dell’anno. Innanzitutto si è tenuta al Corsica Studios, che secondo me è il miglior club di Londra: due sale dotate di soundsystem Funktion 1, che rende l’ascolto di qualsiasi tipo di bass music un viaggio in paradiso. All’interno del club erano esposti poster di Ashes, artista e fotografo noto nella scena dubstep (guarda le sue foto della serata qui).
Dopo mezz’ora la maggior parte dei poster erano già spariti. Fis – T ha dato inizio alla serata nella sala 1, e la pista si è presto animata (date un’occhiata al video qui sotto di Fis – T che suona la sua “Night Hunter“.)
Dalle 01:00 in poi Oneman ha suonato per due ore nella sala principale: ha cominicato con un mix di hip hop e RnB per proseguire con classici come Julio Bashmore – “Battle for Middle of You“. In fondo alla pista affollata, sul palco stavano tutti ballando. La sala 2 era completamente piena per il set di Boddika con il mio MC preferito, Chunky, da Manchester. Da quando l’ho visto per la prima volta all’Outlook 2009, è diventato sempre più popolare e ogni volta che la Swamp 81 organizza qualcosa, lui c’è. Facilmente riconoscibile per i suoi versi classici come ‘Show me your bass face, show me your bass face, show me your ugly mugg, show me your ugly mugg’ e stavolta, in onore di Boddika ‘I say sexy, you say Bod..…Sexy… Bod… Sexy… Bod.’ Loefah ha concluso la serata in una sala 2 completamente piena. Spesso è difficile prendere nota dei pezzi che Boddika e Loefah suonano a causa dell’esclusività dei loro set, ma tutti e due hanno spaccato davvero. Sto già aspettando il secondo round: speriamo sia ancora al Corsica!

Aptly named 81502, Loefah’s Swamp 81 and Oneman’s 502 decided to join forces to put on what can only be described as the party of the year. Firstly it was at Corsica Studios, which in my opinion is the best club in London.
Two rooms both with Funktion 1, listening to any type of bass music there sounds like heaven. When we arrived, the club was decorated with poster prints from artist and photographer, well known in the dubstep world, Ashes. Check out her photos of the night here.
Within half an hour most of the posters had been nicked. Fis – T was first on in room 1 and people were already dancing, filling up the dancefloor– take a look at the video below from the night : Fis – T playing his “Night Hunter“. At 1am Oneman played a two hour set in the main room starting with a mix of hip hop and RnB slowly leading up to club classics such as Julio Bashmore – Battle for Middle of You. At the end of the crowded dancefloor everyone was dancing on the stage. Room 2 was packed for Boddika’s set, with my favourite MC, Chunky. Chunky from Manchester has become increasingly popular since I first saw him at Outlook in 2009 and whenever Swamp 81 is on the scene, so is Chunky, easily recognised by his classic lines ‘Show me your bass face, show me your bass face, show me your ugly mugg, show me your ugly mugg’. And this time for the sake of Boddika ‘I say sexy, you say Bod..…Sexy… Bod… Sexy… Bod.’ Loefah finished the night in a packed out room 2. It’s often difficult to note the tunes that Boddika and Loefah play due to the exclusivity each time of their sets, but both DJs smashed it. Can’t wait for round 2… let’s hope it’s at Corsica again!
